The purpose of this session is to encourage students to investigate maps of their cities and discover the significance of different pathways on these maps in relation to numbers. During this session, we will embark on a journey of exploration to uncover hidden truths and fascinating facts about numbers. Together, we will ponder questions such as, “What is the shortest route to reach your favorite location in the city?”.
Through this interactive activity, students will develop their understanding of spatial concepts and mathematical principles while discovering the practical applications of numbers in real-world contexts. Let’s use maps as the basis for a mathematical investigation into probability and discrete mathematics. In this circle, we will use routes from place to place in order to relate spacial concepts to number, starting with practical application and moving toward the abstract realm.
